Abstract

This research investigates the linguistic relationship between Urdu and Sindhi through the lens of idiomatic expressions. Both languages share profound historical, cultural, and geographical ties, which are vividly mirrored in their idioms. Idioms, beyond their function as linguistic tools, serve as repositories of collective cultural memory and intellectual heritage. The study documents 200 idioms that are either identical or highly comparable in lexical form and semantic content across the two languages. These shared idiomatic structures illustrate a deep sense of linguistic harmony, cultural interconnectedness, and reciprocal influence between Urdu and Sindhi. The findings affirm the existence of a strong interlingual bond, expressed through a common idiomatic tradition, thereby highlighting the intricate interplay of language, culture, and society. This research makes a significant contribution to comparative linguistics and sociolinguistics by scientifically mapping the depth of this interlingual affinity.
