Majlis Taraqi Adab, Lahore, is a leading research, publishing, and academic institution in Pakistan. Its quarterly scholarly journal, Saheefa, occupies a distinguished place among Urdu research periodicals. Over the years, Saheefa has published a substantial body of work on the research and criticism of Urdu language, literature, and related disciplines. A distinctive feature of the journal is its attention to Pakistani languages, including Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, Brahvi, and others, with Punjabi literature receiving particular prominence. Many of these contributions are accompanied by Urdu translations, primarily from Punjabi works. The journal’s first five years and the tenure of Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi in 1977 stand out for their literary significance. Articles published in Saheefa on Pakistani languages span research, critical analysis, and translation. This paper examines these contributions in detail, highlighting the role of Saheefa in promoting Pakistani languages and evaluating its services in the broader literary and scholarly context.
